five and a half

book four, sighted in hoboken, new jersey

book 3, crossing the verrazzano bridge

book 2, in southeast pennsylvania

book 2, traveling from brooklyn

all five books are now on their way!

We handed out this fifth book over the weekend. The cover of the fifth book shows a flagpole in front of a town somewhere in the midwest. Tricky to figure out where this is — there’s no need to lose any sleep over trying to figure it out though — just keep passing the book westward, and hopefully someone will recognize it.

So now that the fifth book is on its way, if you have the book or know of its whereabouts, please send us a message at us(at)fiveandahalf.net so we can track the book — and if you have a digital camera on hand, a jpg of your entry would be very much appreciated!

the fourth book is on its way!

“Soakies,” the name of a little sandwich shop somewhere in the midwest. We won’t tell you where this is just yet — it’s up to you guys to guess, and to keep passing this book until someone recognizes the location — or until we decide to announce it in a few weeks from now.

We dropped this book off in Hoboken, New Jersey yesterday, so the fourth book is now on its way! If you have the book or know of its whereabouts, please send us a message at us(at)fiveandahalf.net so we can track the book — and if you have a digital camera on hand, a jpg of your entry would be very much appreciated.

book 3, last seen in new york city

We’ve just received the first entry in book number three. Here’s the note that accompanied this great photo:

“i’ve just completed my entry in the road trip, america journal.  my
location is new york city, and my sketch is attached as a jpeg file.
i believe the book is traveling now to brooklyn…

good luck with the project, and i hope to see the book when it comes back to nyc.”

the third book has started on its road trip!

A gas station in a small American town, with an old-fashioned building behind it. Based on the gas prices, you can guess it’s pretty far from New York City. Any ideas as to where this might be?

The third book is now on its way! If you have the book or know of its whereabouts, please send us a message at us(at)fiveandahalf.net so we can track the book — and if you have a digital camera on hand, a jpg of your entry would be very much appreciated.

the second book has left the building…

A little diner or restaurant, look carefully and try to figure out what people are eating …. any guesses as to what type of food it is, and where this might be?

The second book is now on its way! If you have the book or know of its whereabouts, please send us a message at us(at)fiveandahalf.net so we can track the book — and if you have a digital camera on hand, a jpg of your entry would be very much appreciated!

the first book is on its way

On the cover of this book is a rosebush overlooking an open-air parking lot, which lies in front of a low mountain range in the near distance. Hopefully, as this book begins to make its way westward, someone will be able to figure out where this is. Any guesses?

“Book One” (appropriately named because it’s the first of the five books to start on the road trip) is now on its way! If you have the book or know of its whereabouts, send us a message at us(at)fiveandahalf.net so we can track the book — and if you have a digital camera on hand, please send us pictures of your entry! Thanks!

five books, on separate road trips; passed from one person to another, with each leaving a record of what they love about where they live.

transported only on foot, bicycle or public transportation, the books will reach the location pictured on the front cover and then make the return journey to brooklyn, new york, carrying stories of their road trips across america.
